Welcome to the 1119 Shrewsbury Sqn Parents page. We hope that the information you here to give you a better understanding of how the Air Training Corps and particular the Shrewsbury Squadron work. It should also give you a better idea of what it is that the cadets get up to and some of the opportunities on offer to them. In addition to cadets the Air Training Corps would not work without the help and support of parents and adult staff. If you do have any questions or suggestions please feel free to contact us .
Parade Nights
We meet on Monday and Wednesday nights. We ask that the cadets arrive at 18.50. Final parade is at 21.30. The cadets should be at the main gate by 21.45.
Costs
At present the cost per cadet is £ 7 per month. We request that this be paid via a standing order. Cadets are not required to pay until they are enrolled.
Weekend activities and camps will have an additional charge. This is purely to cover the cost of the activity and wherever possible we try to keep the price as low as we can to allow all cadets to take part.
If you have any issues over the cost of activities please contact us.
Attendance
The ATC is a voluntary organisation and cadets are free to leave at any time. We do ask that cadets attend both parades nights during the week but appreciate that this is not always possible. If there are any problems with attending please let us know and we'll do what we can to help. We do ask that if a cadet decides to leave that we are informed and that any uniform or equipment is returned so that it can be used by other cadets.
Certain events throughout the year are classed as mandatory attendance, around 5 times a year. These tend to be important events either for the Sqn or the wider community. Examples of this include Remembrance Parade, Annual inspection, etc. Rather then cadets volunteering to attend they should provide a reason as to why they are unable to attend. Cadets are given lots of warning as to when these events are coming up and we would like to ask that they are able to attend them.
Details of events
We endeavour to give cadets all the details of upcoming events with as much notice as possible. This will include dates, timings, costs and where possible an estimated time when the cadets will arrive back at Copthorne barracks. We appreciate that this is not always passed on to parents so the Sqn calendar will contain details of upcoming events.
