It has now been six months that I have taken temporary command of the squadron, and I am very grateful for the help and support given to me by the staff and cadets of 1119.

Once again the cadets have aquitted themselves extremely well in everything they have done for the squadron.

We have raised over 400 pounds towards the RAF wings appeal. There have been many successes in the sports activities particulary Orienteering, recently and of course the Squadron Air Rec team are off to Hendon Again to compete at national level and at Air Britain.

On the Staff side the biggest news is of course AWO Francois Kamudu being awarded Commandants commendation for Meritorius Service. Francois support of the squadron, his commitment to the Shooting events, and of course the many, many times he has been the Discip Warrant Officer at Regional and Corps events makes him a worthy recipient for such a prestigious award. He is to my knowledge the first member of 1119 to receive this award and we await the official presentation of the award to him.

Fg Off Philippa Bartlett Joins us from 2379 (Squadron) where she was squadron commander before taking time out to look after her young family. Pippa has not wasted any time in getting to know the squadron and the way it works, and is yet another positive influence on the squadron.

Mr Jon Cater, a former cadet, has also joined as a Civilian Instructor. He works in the Air traffic Control School at RAF Shawbury and has agreed to take on Mr Collins mantle as Air Rec Officer.

Mrs Carol Fraser Shaw is also a CI along with Laura Brammer another former Cadet. Carol has picked up the role of Health and Safety, whilst Laura is looking forward to become a weapons instructor once she is cleared.

More than anything else I am proud of all the commitment shown by the squadron. In all the activities we have taken part in, every cadet who has made a commitment to take part in an event has attended.

Flying Officer Graham Barre RAFVR(T).
