Welcome to the 1119 Sqn Webpages. Here you will find information on 1119 Shrewsbury Squadron and the activities and events we take part in
I have recently taken over command of the Sqn. While this is the first time I have had the honour of commanding a Sqn I am not new to the Air Training Corps. I have served as a member of staff for the past 17 years in a variety of roles, and with a no. of Sqns. I started out with Norfolk and Suffolk wing as a Civilian Instructor and served for 6 years before going into uniform as a Warrant Officer in 2000. I have served with other Wings and Sqns which helps to gives a board sense of what can be achieved in different Sqns. My main area knowledge is in the adventure training field and this has allowed me to work with a no. of different Sqns, Wings and Regions over the years in all area of outdoor education from climbing and Fieldcraft to obstacles courses and expeditions.
I feel very lucky to be a part of Shrewsbury Sqn and hope to do all I can to add to its success. It is one of the oldest Sqn in the Corps with a proud history and tradition of achievements. The Sqn is situated in an excellent location and benefits from the facilities and support at Copthorne Barracks, a superb team of adult staff and a dedicated civilian committee.
2011 is an important year for the Corps and the Sqn and we continue to grow in strength and numbers. If you, or someone you know, would like to be part of what we do and take the advantage to meet new friends, learn new skills or try something that you may never get the opportunity to do elsewhere then please get in touch.
